The Butet Stud Guard Girth is a calfskin lined leather jumping girth with a carabiner clip and D-rings. Designed to protect the horse’s belly when using studs, it can be used with any of the Butet double flap jumping saddles. Handmade in the Butet workshop in Saumur, France, made from the highest quality cow hide and lined with supersoft calfskin. It features brown Butet elastic at both ends and has roller buckles to avoid damage to the girth straps.
The Butet Stud Guard Girth features
- Full grain cow hide girth lined with calf skin
- Offers full protection from studs
- If you aren’t using studs, but still want a degree of belly protection, we recommend the Butet Training Girth, which is available either with the clip guard here or without the clip guard and at a reduced rate here
- A useful carabiner clip to clip the martingale, breastplate or draw reins to – this girth has now been updated and we have the NEW Butet Stud Guard available with a clip guard over the carabiner clip available here
- Available in Cachou with brown stitching or Gold with white stitching. We also have a couple of Black girths and a few Cachou girths with white stitching.
- Sizes 125cm 130cm 135cm 140cm 150cm – we are selling off the stock we have at a fantastic reduced price as the design has now been updated. Only available in the sizes and colours which show in stock. If you want a different size, then look at the NEW Butet Stud Guard which is available to order
The gold girth can look quite light in colour – in particular on the outside of the girth as this is cowhide whilst the inside is calfskin. The calfskin soaks up the oil more readily than the cowhide. We would recommend Butet Akene Oil to darken the leather. Apply this with a paint brush in a circular motion
To take care of your girth, we suggest Butet Akene Saddle Soap after each use and Butet Akene Leather Cream once a week.
